Adoption Living Large Over the Rainbow

Welcome to Kennel Rosewood!  We're glad you are here and welcome you to look around at our exceptional fur family.

A canine is a dog is a four legged (if he's lucky!) furry critter - unless he's the hairless variety!

How do you describe extraordinary?  If you love him (or her), if the day is brighter because this creature exists in your world, if, when the day is done you realize life is just plain better because this furry member of your family exists, then you have an extraordinary fur kid!

As a breeder, all these things apply.  However, there is more to it than that.  Each pup, whether old or young, is first loved here.  If they are born in my house, their parents have been through extraordinary testing to ensure good outcome for the offspring.  Of course, Mother Nature has the final say-so, but we do all we can to bring the best Affenpinscher or Löwchen into the world with the finest attributes we can help them achieve.

Genetics

The Family Plan

Genetic faults exist for every creature on God's Green Earth.  Even though we, as human beings, assume our children will be perfect, history shows even our children fall prey to some anomalies we just can't predict.  It is the same in the canine world.  The difference with canines however, is we, as breeders, try our best to minimize the occurence of these faults.  We will not breed with known faults including:

  • Luxating Patella or Hip Dysplasia
  • PRA or known cataracts
  • Trachea disorders, diabetes, seizures or other debilitating issues

All our kids are line-bred with minimal inbreeding.  This means our pups are related to each other to pass on the good traits that make our lines preferable and predictable.

Temperament, health and adherance to the AKC Standard for the breed are foremost in our minds.  Whether we think a pup is acceptable for breeding, show potential, or a family pet, each one is loved and given the best start possible in their new life.  We are highly selective about the home for each of our kids.  If you are accepted as a home, you have been given the highest honor we can convey:  Trust in you to love our babies!
